Summer Term 2 2020 Updates

We hope you enjoyed last week's Virtual Sports Week and had lots of fun, thank you to everyone that took part and for all the fab photos and video clips. This week, we are continuing with our Home Learning Pack from the week before (15th June), so please continue the activities from that pack. Maths, English, Reading and Phonics are the main priorities, therefore, if you find that time is limited it is a good idea to focus on those areas of learning and try to keep reading daily. Mr Mc has released some brand new videos that we weren't expecting, which we are very excited about! He has released 9 lessons which focus on revising Phase 5 sounds, tricky words and sentence composition, so if you would like additional Phonics work, have a look at those.

Mr Mc Link-

On BBC Bitesize this week, it is Science week. Here is their programme of lessons for the week...

Our book of the week this week is  'I Want My Hat Back' by Jon Klassen. We have found a brilliant little live performance of this on YouTube that we think the children will love. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Last week, we welcomed back some of our Year 1s and it was really lovely to see them and be back in class together. We are looking forward to seeing them again this week and also welcoming some more of our children back the week after. Keep smiling everyone, keep up the good work and remember where we are if you need us, we are still here for our lovely class and are missing their smiling faces very much. If you need to contact us, we are more than happy to speak to you, so please call the school office and they will pass on a message to us and we will call you back. Alternatively, you can email us at

Take care,

Mrs Leadbeater, Mrs Goncalves and Mrs Berney.

'On your marks.....get set.....go!'. We are celebrating our 'Virtual Sports Week' as a whole school this week and Mrs Gibbison, Mr Toon and Mrs Harris have been very busy thinking of exciting sporting activities that you can do from home to celebrate what would have been our annual Sports Day on Thursday 25th June. Each day, there is a new sporting event to try and tasks to complete. Mrs Gibbison would love to see photos of your Sports Week. Please email her at This will be the home learning for the whole week and we will continue our classpack next week. We will be making a new home learning pack for week beginning 6th July.

This week also sees the return of some of our Year 1s. We are really looking forward to seeing some of our class back in school and Mrs Goncalves, Mrs Leadbeater and Miss Giller have been busy getting the classroom ready and planning exciting lessons and activities. We can't wait to see you! For those at home, we have loved seeing what you have been getting up to- you are very busy bees! Look at these......Arthur created an amazing London Tower Bridge box model, we are so impressed with his excellent box modelling skills- well done, Arthur! And Abby also created Tower Bridge too- well done, Abby, it must have taken a long time to complete! We love seeing the work you create at home :)

Remember, you can email us photos of your work by contacting us using the form at the bottom of this page.

Our 'Book of the Week' this week is 'Oi Puppies' by Kes Gray and Jim Field. We know how much you love the Oi series and this is the latest installment. Kes Gray has recorded a reading of it, we loved watching the author read his own book. He is very funny, just like his books. We hope you enjoy listening to him reading it as much as we did.

Take care, stay safe everyone and keep up the good work at home- we hear that lots of you are working really hard as well as having lots of fun!

We miss you all!

Mrs Leadbeater, Mrs Goncalves and Mrs Berney.

Hi everyone,

We hope you are all staying safe and have had a good week, despite the rainy weather. We have made a new workpack which is available in the school office from Monday 15th June if you would like a paper copy. This workpack will last until week beginning 6th July as we are having a whole school virtual Sports Week from 22nd June and this will be the home learning for that week.

Here is an outline:

Week beginning:

15th June- Workpack home learning.

Purple Mash

In every child's reading record, there will be a username and password to enable access to the fabulous Purple Mash resources. There are lots of interactive games and programs for the children to use to continue practising many skills that we have learnt in class throughout the curriculum areas. You can access Purple Mash using most devices.

We will be setting '2Dos' for your child to have a go at and hand in, so that we can see the brilliant work being created. We would love to hear from our amazing class and see the fantastic things they can do and make. Keep looking out for new 'To Dos' being set, we will aim to update these regularly. Please remember all of the ideas we suggest are for guidance only, pick and choose what you would like to have a go at and remember there is no pressure with any of the homework. The most important thing is spending time with your children. Thank you :)

Week Beginning 15.06.20

We have added 3 'To Dos' this week:

  1. All About Me- draw and write about your favourite things.
  2. Number bonds game- race around space and be the fastest to complete the number bonds to 20.
  3. North America facts- Amelia Earhart was born in Kansas, North America. What can you find out about this place?

Mrs Leadbeater and Mrs Goncalves :)

Hi to all our lovely year 1s and their families,

We hope you have had a lovely week, despite the change in the weather. We are missing you all lots! This week, please continue the work pack that we set last week. We would love to see the work you have been doing and see what else you have been up to, remember you can email us using the contact form at the bottom of the page. This week, Mr Mc will be releasing new phonics videos, so keep an eye out for those. There are also lots of free resources on the Phonics Play website (see link below) including some great interactive games to practice those phonics and early reading skills. Our focus in Y1 is Phase 5 but consolidation of sounds in Phases 3 and 4 is also useful. Our Purple Mash '2Dos' are still available to complete if you didn't get chance last week.

As always, we are still here if you need us, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Keep smiling and stay safe,

Mrs Leadbeater, Mrs Goncalves and Mrs Berney :)

Hi everyone.

We hope you have had a lovely half term break and have been enjoying the glorious weather we have had. What a scorcher of a week! This week we begin our second half of the Summer term and have produced a new home learning pack. We will make paper copies available at the office as soon as possible and let you know when it is available. As always, if you need anything, please do contact us and we will be more than happy to help- we are still very much here for our lovely class.

Stay safe,

Mrs Goncalves, Mrs Leadbeater and Mrs Berney :)

Hello everyone, we hope you are all still staying safe and have been enjoying the lovely sunshine we have been having. This week, please continue activities from last week's home learning. There are lessons on BBC Bitesize everyday and Mr Mc is releasing more phonics videos on his YouTube channel. We have also set 3 new 'To Dos' on Purple Mash. If you would like more activities and haven't accessed resources on the 'Classroom Secrets' website, there are some lovely things on there and also 'Oak National Academy' has fantastic resources too. Daily phonics, Maths and reading are the priorities for Year 1 but please remember, everything we suggest is for guidance only and choose what is best for you and your child. Keep making memories and doing those lovely activities such as baking, playing, den building, painting, outdoor activities, walking and crafting- these are just as important during these times.

As always, if you need us, we are still here and please do contact us using the form at the bottom of the page, call the school number or message via Facebook.

Stay safe, take care and keep smiling,

Mrs Leadbeater, Mrs Goncalves and Mrs Berney :)

We hope you are all keeping well and enjoyed the VE day celebrations. We thought we would update you with more ideas for home learning activities to keep you busy up until the half term break. Remember, these are to be used as a guide only and we are not expecting you to complete everything we suggest. Please ‘go with the flow’ and do what is best for you and your child and keep doing all those lovely activities such as baking, spending time in the garden, arts and crafts- these are all so important. You can contact us anytime using the contact us page at the bottom of this page if you need any help with anything or to send us pictures of what you have been up to. We love to see what you’ve all been doing. Below are all the links to the documents in our new home learning pack. There will be print outs of these available in the school office this week.

Stay safe, take care, we miss you!
