Year 1

Miss Rowley and Miss Smith welcome you to Year 1!

Below there are lots of resources for learning. We have also given you access to all our time to read sheets that we'll use this year. Please read with your child as often as possible, preferably daily, to help with their reading skills.

Reminders:

Every Tuesday will be forest school day until October half term. Please send non-uniform clothes and wellies in a named bag. Remember to check the weather forecast before packing clothes.

Please bring a PE kit into school to be left within school. It will be sent home at half term. PE is on a Thursday.

Have your child read to you at least 3 times a week and record in their reading record. We will use this to keep you up to date with their reading. We send time to read sheets home daily- please look at these with your child. It is so important.

Remember to bring a raincoat to school every day, book bag and water bottle.

Fab Phonics in Year 1!

In year 1, we love phonics! We are working hard to learn our letter sounds in our reading and in our writing. We have fun reading 'alien' and 'nonsense' words using our fab phonics to decode the word.

Here are some useful links to support learning phonics at home.

Please watch the video below to help you support your child to read and write at home

Phases 2 to 5 Sound mats- we are trying hard to know all of these sounds by sight and use these in our writing too!
