Miss Rowley and Miss Smith welcome you to Year 1!

Below there are lots of resources for learning. We have also given you access to all our time to read sheets that we'll use this year. Please read with your child as often as possible, preferably daily, to help with their reading skills.

Timings for the School Day:

Start- 8:45

Lunch- 12:00-12:45

Home time- 3:15

PE is on a Thursday Express coaching and with Miss Rowley on a Friday this half term. Children will get changed into PE kit on Thursdays and Fridays. No earrings on both days please. Can children please leave their PE kits in a bag at school. Please can children practise getting changed themselves to ensure they are confident with tricky things like buttons and zips.

Have your child read to you at least 3 times a week and record in their reading record. We will use this to keep you up to date with their reading. We send time to read sheets home daily as well as spellings on a Friday- please look at these with your child. It is so important.

Remember to bring a raincoat to school every day, book bag and water bottle.

Spring 2.

This term, Year 1 will be reading Sunshine at bedtime by Clare Helen Walsh in Whole Class Reading and will be looking at A year in Percy's park, Seasons and Float in our writing unit.

In Maths we are going to begin learning Place value within 50, measurement length and height as well as measurement mass and volume.

In Geography we are going to be exploring the UK and it's capitals.

 In science, we are going to be investigating the different seasons.

In Design and technology we are going to be looking at how to create a Dolls house and in Music we are going to be exploring rhythm patterns.

Fab Phonics in Year 1!

In year 1, we love phonics! We are working hard to learn our letter sounds in our reading and in our writing. We have fun reading 'alien' and 'nonsense' words using our fab phonics to decode the word.
