Information about Year 3

The school day begins at 8:45 and ends at 15:15. Playtime is at 11:00 for 15 minutes, and lunchtime runs from 12:15 to 13:00. Afternoon play is 14:00-14:15.

Children should bring their reading folder every day. In the folder should be their reading diary and reading books. Children will be given a slot each week to change their reading book but they can also do this at any point if they have finished their book or are not enjoying it. Children will have a colour band book and a sharing book from our library.

While we don't have spelling tests, new spellings that are all linked by a spelling pattern will be given out on a Friday.  Please practice these as they really help with spelling expectations in year 3.

Homework for Year 3

Read at least 3 times a week.

Practice times tables at least 3 times a week and do maths sheet.

Practice spellings on EdShed or spelling sheet.

As always, there will be prizes for reading and house points for all homework!

Times tables prize!

Children are encouraged to practise their times tables at home and their teachers will keep track of their progress.  Every week a Mathematics Super Star will be selected from each class to encourage you!

Reading prize!

Children are also expected to read at least 3 times a week at home. This can be any book and doesn't have to be their school book if they have already read it.

Prizes will be given for milestone reads.
